Valera Carter

Valera Parks Carter, 86 of Cleveland passed away on March 16, 2010. Valera was preceded in death by her loving husband, Huland Carter. She was a member of Locust Fork Baptist Church. Valera and Huland founded Art Iron Works in 1953 and she worked there until she retired with more than 40 years of service. Survivors include her daughter, Janice Carter; two sons, Mike Carter (Wanda) and Mark Carter (Susan); one sister, Christina Bone; one brother, William Parks (Ann); four grandchildren, Brandon Carter, Teri Clyde (David), Joshua Johnson and Jacob Carter; three great grandchildren, Sydney, Carter Boy and Catherine Clyde and long time friend, Judy Bryan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 17 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel services will be on Thursday, March 18 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Rufus Harris officiating and burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Locust Fork Baptist Church Building Fund.
