Thomas Bates

Thomas Gerald Bates, age 78 of Birmingham, AL passed away on December 9, 2012. He was a member of Edwards Lake Church of Christ. He was a Radio and TV Personality in Chattanooga, TN. He retired from Stanback Company as Vice President. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Walker Bates; children, Brian Bates, Kim Bates Medlen, Katrina Bates Phillips (Phil), and Brad Bates; brother, Mabra Bates "Son"; grandchildren, Matthew Craig Medlen, Laura Elizabeth Phillips, and Amanda Grace Phillips. The family would like to give a special thanks to Michael J. Rowland, MD and his nurse, Rosetta. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 5 to 7 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be on Wednesday at 12:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Brother Norman Webb will be officiating over the services. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Mr. Bates name. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
