Robert Smith

Robert Elton Smith was born August 18, 1921 in Calcis, AL and went home to be with the lord August 17, 2013. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Ruth Smith; son, Richard Earl Smith; granddaughter, Jenny Lynn Smith; parents, William Rueben Smith Sr. and Jessie Viola Lineberger; brother, William Rueben Smith Jr.; sisters, Ruby Reynolds, Mary Parsons, and Ruth Price. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Doris J. Smith; four daughters, Annette Kelly (Mike), Patricia Willis, Lisa Williamson (Todd), Nancy Trapp; four sons, Robert "Buddy" Smith, Joseph Smith, Jeffrey Smith (Pauline), Michael Plant (Jamie); 24 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Bearden, Phyllis Kirk (Middlton); and numerous nieces and nephews. During WWII he served aboard the USS Crater and USS Winston in the Pacific. Robert Smith was an avid gardener and piddler. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20 from 11 AM to 12 noon at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The service will begin at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel followed by the burial at Jefferson memorial Gardens East.
