Cordell, Robert William

Robert William Cordell (Bill to family, Bob to friends), age 85 of Pinson, AL, passed away on December 20, 2012, after he failed to recover from a bad fall in front of his home on October 25. Bill was born in Chattanooga, TN, on June 26, 1927. He met Monique Jeandel, the love of his life, in her hometown of Metz, France, when he was in the Army during the reconstruction of France at the end of World War II in Europe and adored her for their 64 A½ years of marriage. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and grandfather who will be missed dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Herbert Cordell and Addie Lee Womack Cordell of Chattanooga, TN, his wife, Monique Jeanne Jeandel Cordell, his daughter, Mary Jo Cordell, his brothers James Cordell, Walter Herbert Cordell, Jr., and sisters Dorothy Turner and Ruby Sherlin. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Jean Williams and son-in-law, Rod Williams of Sammamish, WA; grandchildren, Andrea Jeanne Williams of McKinney, TX and Amy Ruth Williams of Houston, TX; sisters, Jo Murray of Chattanooga, TN, Catherine Riddell of Center Point, AL, and Helen Lawson of Jacksonville, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from 5 to 7 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville, AL. Services will be on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 2 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
