Edith Maxine Scott Wright walked into the light of God's presence on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 95 years of age. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Paul Wright. She was also preceded in death by her father, Ellis Scott, her mother, Florence Scott, her sisters Josephine Robbins and Nell Krivcher and her brother Raymond Scott. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Johnson (Bill) and her four children, Edwin Wright (Marcia), Scott Wright (Sarah), Paula Shivers (David) and Beth Warren (Terry). Maxine loved her grandchildren and kept up with them - Alice Lawley (Perry), Daniel Shivers (Jessica), Alex Warren (Erika) and Zachary Warren. She also had a special love for her great grandson, Wilson. She loved her family and kept in touch regularly with nieces, nephews and cousins. Maxine loved her church, her family and her friends, many of them for 50 or 60 years. Maxine retired as a CPCU from the insurance business in 1991. She enjoyed working and was active in the Insurance Women's Organization. She was a supporter of Samford University through service as a Life Member and officer in the Samford Legacy League. Maxine enjoyed music, gardening, art (painting) and reading before her eyes failed. She was a devoted member of Deerfoot Baptist Church, singing in the choir, working in Vacation Bible School, serving in the WMU and teaching Sunday School. She had many devoted friends there. Although we will all miss her, we know Maxine is where she has wanted to be for some time - safe and at home. The family suggests memorials be made to Samford Legacy Scholarship Fund, 800 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham AL 35229. The funeral for Maxine will be on Wednesday, May 27th at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial's adjoining cemetery.
