Madeline Thompson

Madeline C. Thompson, age 98, of Birmingham, AL passed away on July 24, 2011. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald E. Thompson; granddaughter, Casey Marie Grant; daughter-in-law Barbara Thompson; and sister, Reba Howe. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Thompson Grant (John) of Clay, AL; sons, Tim Thompson (Nancy) of Leeds, AL, and Donald Thompson, Jr. (Mary) of Helena, AL; grandchildren, Sean Thompson(Donna) of Yulee, FL, Jason Grant (Christine) of Argo, AL, Gavin Grant (Shannon) of Trussville, AL, Justin Grant (Meredith) of Mobile, AL, Paul Thompson (Joeette) Bessemer, AL, Jean Drake (Bruce) of Warrior, AL; 13 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She was a member of Huffman Church of Christ. Madeline was the picture of a genteel Southern lady, one who loved the Lord and served as a Christian example to her husband and children and to her friends and neighbors. A "virtuous woman" she exemplified a spirit of kindness and love. As an accomplished homemaker, she was multi-talented and enjoyed sewing, gardening and china painting among her interests. She was also an avid reader well into her later years. Madeline will be remembered for her sweet smile and for the encouragement she gave to so many. Services will be private for family only.
