Louis (Lou) L. Morris, 86, died recently March 7, 2022, at St. Vincent's East hospital. He was born January 15, 1936 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Leonard Jack and Florence Love (Jennings) Morris.
Lou graduated from Franklin High School. Following graduation, he served as a sergeant in Japan. After his service, he became a Ventura County firefighter in Santa Paula, California. He was injured in the line of duty and medically retired. He became a business owner with partner, Cleveland Lavender. He married the love of his life, Jonathan "Johnnie" Vermillion Woods in Texas on April 8, 1983. He later retired from Circuit City in Alabama.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother, Richard Stewart. Surviving, in addition to his wife Johnnie Morris, are his brother, Gary Morris; his sons, Roger Morris and his wife Nicole, and Steve Woods and his wife Danielle; his daughter, Karen Morris; his six grandchildren, Faith (Rousselle Woods) and her husband, Elisha "Eli" Bush, Adriane Egelhofer, Colleen Morris, Cameron "Cami" Woods, Phillip Morris and Heather Sebrant; one great-grandson Christopher "Odin" Bush; and many nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held 9 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2022 at Jefferson Memorial Trussville, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham. The funeral will follow directly after at Abbey Mausoleum next to the funeral home.
