Joseph Massey

Resided from Locust Fork, AL. Recently a resident at the State Veterans Home in Pell City, AL. Born in Argo, Al, youngest of 6 sons belonging to Ernest and Beulah Massey. Attended Hewitt High School before enlisting in the US Army in the 65th Division. When the Army called for volunteers to transfer to the 106th to replenish that division, he made that commitment. He served with the 106th Infantry division in WWII. Was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and was a POW until the end of the war. Long time employee of Massey Mercantile. He served on the board of directors for the 106th Infantry Division Association and co hosted 3 of their annual reunions. Married to Hazel V Masse(deceased), children Joseph Randall Massey and Cheryl Massey Ryan (Shawn), grandchildren, Ashley Jones and Shawn Prescott (Melissa) and 4 great grandchildren, Aidan Cromwell, Logan, Mason and Camden Prescott. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-2pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, at 2pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, with burial to follow at Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Argo. In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to the following: Locust Fork Baptist Church or 106th Infantry Division Association.
