James Cannon

James Cannon, age 79, of Birmingham, Al. went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2011. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, loving and fun grandfather, loyal and caring friend. He was retired from the Birmingham City Fire Department after 36 years of service. Along with his wife, Hazel, he owned and operated Cannon Custom Drapes from 1973 to 2011. He was a member of Huffman Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Hazel Cannon; his son, Michael Cannon (Susan); his daughter, Cherie Wentzell (Philip); 6 granddaughters, Jennifer Neely (Clay), Julie Woods (Jeremy), Tonya Taylor (Bryan), Jana Flinkow (Will), Amy Brandon (Justin), and Christina Cannon; six great grandchildren, Philip Todd, Ryan, Cameron, Alexa, Blaze, and Jameson. Services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East, Trussville, Dr. Ron Ethridge officiating. The family will receive friends at 9:30 A.M. with funeral immediately after at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to Huffman Baptist Church, 700 Huffman Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35235.
