Gerald Tucker

Gerald Orin Tucker Sr., died on June 27, 2010, after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure. He was born on May 31, 1944. He was predeceased by his parents Coleman E. Tucker (2010), Tessie O. Tucker (1998) and brother Robert Tucker (2004). He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Norma McDill Tucker; his children, Cathy D. Hopkins (Sonny) and Gerald "Gerry" O. Tucker, Jr. (Missy); grandchildren Andrea and Natalie Tucker and Joshua Hopkins; his siblings, James Tucker (Renee), Steve Tucker (Nadine), Jack Tucker (Cathy), Betty Rodgers and Debbie Black (Mike) and countless friends and extended family. He served as a police officer and sergeant with the Birmingham Police Department for 22 years when he retired. He then worked with the Jefferson County Youth Detention for 18 years as a Senior JDO. He was a member of The Church of the Highlands. His daughter, Cathy, led him to the Lord when she was 9 years old and they were baptized together at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. James Frey, Care First Hospice and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at St. Vincent's East. Visitation will be from 5 until 7pm Tuesday. Services will be Wednesday June 30, at 10am with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
