George Chiles

Chiles, George Robert "Peavine", passed away June 27, 2010, age 81. He was a member of Gardendale Mt. Vernon UMC. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Merrifield, brother Charles Chiles. He is survived by his wife Betty Ruff Chiles, son Lee Cobb (Janet), granddaughter Sara Wallace (Rich), great grandson Jack Wallace, nephews Doug Chiles James Merrifield, Johnny Merrifield and a host of good friends. George was in World War II with the Marines. He played football and baseball for Hewitt High. He still kept in touch with the guys George retired from ACIPCO after 35 years as a machinist where he also played baseball in the ACIPCO League. Memorials may be made to Gardendale Mt Vernon UMC or any cancer foundation. Services will be Wednesday June 30 at 2pm in the Chapel with burial in Jefferson Memorial Trussville. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
