Ellen Ratliff

RATLIFF, ELLEN EUGENE SELF, 77, of Center Point passed away on June 5, 2010. Ellen was a loving devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of Brewster Road Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. She was a member of Clay Chalkville High School Athletic Booster Club since the school opened. Mrs. Ratliff was affectionately known as "Granny Cougar". She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Eugene Self and Dorothy Zelma Morgan Self; sisters, Norma Self Cornelius and Carolyn Self Thompson; brothers, Kenneth Self (Buddy), Herman Self, Raymond Self and David Eugene Self. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Clarence E. Ratliff; their children, James Ratliff, Carol Ratliff Capps Anderson (Dennis), Debra Ratliff Brown, Zelma Ratliff Nichols (Johnny), Naomi Ratliff and Kenneth Ratliff (Danielle); grandchildren, Marie Ratliff of Japan, Jeremy Capps (Emilee), Johnny Nichols (Heather), Randy Capps, Chris Capps, Jamie Ratliff Clark (Andy), Jacob Ratliff, Dorothy Nichols, Angela Nichols, Amanda Brown, Jennifer Williams (Frank) and Jason Anderson; great grandchildren, Mario Ratliff, Madyson Nichols, Jordan Nichols, Preston Clark, Aubri Capps and Jacob Anderson. Visitation will be held Monday June 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel services will be on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Bro. Dane Davis and Bro. Jess Tenpenny, Jr. officiating and burial to following Altoona Walnut Grove Cemetery. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
