Clifton Wayne "Butch" Hinkle, age 61, of Shelby, AL, passed away June 23, 2011 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was a member of Ensley Baptist Church and a graduate of Ensley High School. Butch loved fishing on Lay Lake and visiting with his friends and neighbors at Lay Port Marina. He was an avid Alabama (Roll Tide) and NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by his parents Dwight "Ozzie" Hinkle and Mary "Babe Ruth" Hinkle. Butch is survived by his daughter he so adored, Caroline Beane Hinkle. Also survived by sisters Charlotte Dunn (Dan), Debbie Newberry (Billy), and Tammi Hinkle, nephews Corey Dunn, Chris Newberry (Kelly), and Austin Newberry, nieces Melissa Dunn Tuck, Roxanne Newberry, and August Newberry, extended family Pam Lipscomb and Donna Jones and all his friends at Lay Port Marina. Butch leaves behind his faithful companion and buddy Coosa, who he loved to take fishing and riding in his truck. Chapel services will be on Monday, June 27, at 2pm with visitation on Sunday, June 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Trussville. Burial at Highland Memorial Gardens, Dr. Kevin Blackwell officiating. The family would like to give a special thanks to UAB Palliative Care Unit and New Beacon Hospice.
