Carney Rand Crick, age 88, of Birmingham, passed away October 28, 2010. He was retired from the US Postal Service with 35 years of service. He had a lifelong interest in golf, beginning at age 11 as a caddie at Roebuck Golf Club to become a USGA committeeman from 1992-2007 as a rules official. He was a member of the American Society of Golf Course Raters and Chairman of the Alabama Course Rating Committee 8 years, and was inducted into the BGA Hall of Fame in 1997. And in 2007, he was an Honorary Letter Winner from the UAB Blazers Basketball Athletic Department. Visitation will be from 1pm until 2pm Sunday October 31, with a Chapel service following. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Crick, daughter Randy Crick Merrill (Hugh), grandchildren Stacy Rand Melvin, Chad Reid Merrill (Jenny), great grandchildren Hallie Rand Melvin, Whalen Reid Merrill, Andrew Rand Merrill, stepchildren Carol Ray-Gordon (David), Richard Ray, Alan Ray of Homer Alaska, and sister in law Mabel Crick. Memorials may be made to Rainbow Omega, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association, or the Salvation Army. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
