Billie Salter Atkinson Mrs. Atkinson was born, Billie Elizabeth Salter in Coosa County, Alabama. She moved to Birmingham in 1943. She graduated from Woodlawn High School. She married Gerald C. Atkinson in November of 1947. She was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers Women's Auxiliary, where she participated in various roles on the state and National Board. Mrs. Atkinson also held multiple positions at, St. Johns United Methodist Church in Roebuck for over 30 years. She worked as head teller, at AmSouth Bank, where she retired in 1983, after 35 years of service. She was a member of FDSK German Club in Birmingham. Sadly she passed away on October 7, 2012, leaving behind her loved ones to cherish her memory. She is survived by her daughter, Carmen Seals (Sonny); sister, Becky Bishop; grandchildren: Heidi Ramey (Chad), Blaine Seals, Jordan Seals; great grandchildren Anna Elizabeth, Emma Clair Ramey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald C. Atkinson. The family would like to request that in lieu of flowers please send donations to the St. Johns UMC general funds. Services will be held, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service in the Chapel, with burial following in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville, AL.
