Betty Slocumb Kimbrough, of Pinson, passed away peacefully at her home on August 6, 2010 at the age 73. Ms. Betty served her community through her love and compassion for people and has helped many throughout her life. Ms. Betty has been associated with the Cedar Post Restaurant in Center Point for more than 40 years and owned and operated the restaurant for over 30 of those years. Ms. Betty is survived by her husband Robert C. Kimbrough, her daughters Belinda Smith of Oneonta, Terri Slocumb, Tammi Scheiring, brother W. H. Martin of Jasper AL, special niece Shelby Reynolds, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Donald Slocumb and son Stanley McConnell. The family will accept visitors at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville on Sunday August 8th from 5 until 7 PM and the Chapel service will be held on Monday August 9th at 10 AM. Ms. Betty's grandson Rev. David McConnell will be conducting the service. The family wants to extend a special thanks to New Beacon Hospice. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
