Miss Bettie Joan Parker of Trussville died peacefully and went to meet her heavenly father on Friday, January 24, 2014. Miss Parker was preceded in death by her parents, Moultrie D. Parker and Thelma Hendricks Parker Johnson; her sister, Joy Gibson(Taylor). Survivors include her sister, Linda Parker; niece Gail Gibson, nephew, Don Gibson (Danielle), great nieces and nephews, Chris (Sarah) and Kala of Birmingham, Wyatt, Graham and Owen of Nashville, TN.; numerous cousins. Bettie retired in 1986 from U.S. Steel after more than 38 years of service. She was a very active member of Avondale United Methodist Church with 60 years of services and devotion as treasurer, Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir, among other activities and functions throughout the years. Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Monday, January 27, 2014 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Commer officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to the service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Jefferson Memorial East directing.
