Bernice Harner

Bernice Watkins Harner, born March 21, 1926, passed away at home on January 7, 2013. She will always be remembered for abiding Christian faith and her love and devotion to her family. Mrs. Harner is survived by her brother Ray E. Watkins, Sr. (Charlotte) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Arthur Harner. Parents: William E. and Bessie Earnest Watkins, sister: Virginia Watkins Lester, brothers: Paul E. Watkins and Harry C. Watkins. In 1992, Mrs. Harner retired from Baptist Medical Center ending 21 years service and ten years as secretary to the Clinical Pastoral Education Division. She lived in Birmingham all her life and has been a member of McElwain Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Harner's funeral will be held at McElwain Baptist Church on Friday, January 11, at 11:00am with Reverend Jody Baker officiating. Following the funeral, burial will take place at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Visitation will be at 10:00am prior to the funeral. Mrs. Harner's nephews will be her pallbearers.
