Winford "Joe" Grogan passed away March 4, 2013. He was born on August 17, 1926 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil Oliver Grogan and Leo Jordan Grogan, his in-laws Henry and Mattie Ausbon and his siblings, Clarence Grogan, Lenwood Grogan (Louise), Mary Frances Douglas (Fred), and Fred Grogan. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Ausbon Grogan, his sons Joe Jr. (Lana), and Bobby (Lynn). He was a loving PopPop to Jennifer Grogan, Erin Keith (Bill), Andy and Bradley Grogan, Clint and Adam Landman and Jonathan Keith. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Grogan and Hildred Carlson. Joe became a Christian as a young adult and served the Lord in many capacities at Gate City Baptist, Sixty-Sixth Street Baptist and, for the last 44 years, at First Baptist, Trussville. In recent years, he was given the honor of Deacon Emeritus. Joe worked on the flight line at Hayes/PEMCO for 38 years. The family would like to thank Suzanne Washington as well as the staff at the Village at Cook Springs, Woodland Way, for their compassionate care. Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 10am in the Chapel with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 9am until 10am Thursday.
