Wilmar E. Key, age 90, passed away on May 20, 2012. Mrs. Key was a devout Christian. She was loved by all and was known as Mama Key to everyone. She was very giving, a loving wife, a terrific cook, and she always put others before herself. She was known for the quilts she lovingly made and gave to her family and friends. Mrs. Key worked as a seamstress in different places for many years; during World War II she served as a Rosie The Riveter in Mobile. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Annie Baker Edwards and her brother, Hobart Edwards. Survivors include her loving husband of 71 years, Raymon Key; daughter, Loretta Brasher (Allen); son, Gaddis E. Key (Linda); brother, W.L. Edwards (Lillian); and 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild who loved her dearly; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as her special friend, Alene Wallace. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 22 from 6PM - 8PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 23 at 2PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family would like to extend a special thanks to EastGlen Nursing & Rehab as well as to Comfort Care Hospice for their care and support. Flowers will be accepted, but if you would like to make a memorial, please donate to the St. Clair County East Gideon's. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
