William Trammell

William Dowell Trammell passed away surrounded by his family on February 12th. He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty nine years, Joyce Bunt Trammell, three children, Leigh and Roddy Sample, Todd and Daphne Trammell, and Jeff and Jamie Trammell. Dowell leaves five grandchildren, Tyler and Heath Sample, Chase and Coy Trammell, and Leah Trammell. He is also survived by one brother, Bobby Trammell and three sisters, Faye Graham, Ruth Lloyd, and Tommie Lou Williams. Dowell served in the U.S. Navy in the early years of his marriage and retired from South Central Bell with 42 years of service. His retirement gave him the opportunity to pursue his many interests, especially antique cars. His burial service will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo February 17th, at 9:30AM. Following the burial, at 11:30, a memorial will be held at Irondale United Methodist Church where he was a long time member. Dowell's family and many friends cherish their memories and will sorely miss him. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any memorials be sent to Irondale United Methodist Church.
