Mr. William Delbert Marshall, age 86, of Birmingham, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2015 after a brief illness. Mr. Marshall graduated from Ada High School in Oklahoma in 1946, graduated from Oklahoma State with a BS in meteorology in 1950, and attended graduate school at Florida State University. He was a Korean War veteran, who flew weather reconnaissance and was a hurricane hunter before retiring as a Major in the Air Force Reserve. He was employed as the deputy MIC and lead forecaster with the National Weather Service in Birmingham for 26 years, retiring in 1988. He was an active member of North Park Baptist Church and the Abundant Living Sunday School Class. He was also a member and past worshipful master of the Birmala Masonic Lodge 836, Clay, AL, the Sadie Deerr 350 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Oxmoor Rotary Club where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Bill enjoyed daily walking, yardwork, traveling, spending time with his family, and he was an avid reader. Mr. Marshall is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ethel Harrison Marshall; his daughters, Pam Marshall Wright (Steve) of Vestavia, and Susan Marshall Deas (Mark) of Madison, AL; his grandchildren, Marshall and Michelle Wright and Ava and Harrison Deas; and his 3 cats. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Trussville, with Bro. Bill Wilks officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Jefferson Memorial Trussville is directing.
