William J, Layton

William Joseph Layton - (Billy Joe) Age 79 passed away on January 7, 2021 after complications from Covid. He was a proud member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father,  grandfather, brother and friend to anyone he met. He was an avid street rodder and outdoorsman. He took great pride in his family and 62 years of marriage to his wife Carolyn. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jodie and Eula Bell Layton and son, Jeff Layton. He is survived by wife, Carolyn Layton; daughters Pam Layton (Sherry), Michelle Roberson (Jess) and son, Tony Layton (Deborah).  Grandchildren; Maria Beasley, Brooke Messina (Chad), Bentley Grace Layton, J.P. Roberson and five great grandchildren. Brothers; Jimmy Layton (Bobbie), Richard Layton (Loretta), Wallace Layton (Joann), Donald Layton (Debbie), sister Ann Hawkins and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville at 12pm with visitation at 11am and graveside following.
