William Jones

William Bailey Jones, 86, of Birmingham passed away January 5, 2009. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Taylor Jones; his son, Arthur C. Jones of Birmingham; his two daughters, Nancy Hughes of Florence and Barbara Cook of Harvest; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, his sister, Margret Jones Crotty of Birmingham; and his brother, Frank D. Jones of Pelham. Mr. Jones was employed by American Cast Iron Pipe Company for 48 years, and was a member of the ACIPCO Men's Chorus. Mr. Jones proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a member of the 238th Army Air Forces bomb squadron. He was a member of Riverchase United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Thursday at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to The Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation at Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital, 1720 University Boulevard, Birmingham, AL 35249
