William Glenn Garner, of Trussville, passed away April 25, 2012. Born in Blountsville, AL, he was a graduate of J.B. Pennington High and Howard College (now Samford). He was formerly employed by Standard Oil and a member of The Alabama Air National Guard for 12 years during which he was called to active duty during the Korean War. Most of his career, he was a partner of Garner & Grabowski Realty in the Eastern Area of Birmingham being involved in real estate sales, development of residential lots and construction of many homes, plus was an active person in the community. Held the office of President of the Huffman's Lions Club, Roebuck Sales Club, was an active member of The Birmingham Association of Realtors, Homebuilder's Association and served as Chairman on a number of committees. He also served on the Birmingham Planning Commission. He was a member of Huffman Methodist Church since 1954 where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and on the Building Committee. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, William J. & Irene W. Garner, his sister, Bernelle G. Jackson, and his only son, William Obie Garner. Survived by his wife, Barbara Duffy Garner and daughter, Patricia G. Staton of Birmingham. Services will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 2pm at Huffman Methodist Church with visitation from 12pm until 2pm. Brother Harris Hand officiating.
