William Durie

William Edward Durie, Sr. age 91 passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2008. Bill was a veteran of World War II, combat wounded as a Tail Gunner on a B-25. He retired from L&N Railroad in 1982 after 41 years of service; he was a resident of Center Point since 1950 and was a member of Center Point United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Durie; their children, William E. "Bud" Durie (Kelly), Kathy Henderson (Ed) and John Durie (Donna); one brother, Charles Durie (Trudi); five grandchildren, Alison, Sydney, Jacob, Jared and Dylan; one brother-in-law, Gene Faucett and one sister-in-law, Gladys Brady. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8 beginning at 12PM with Chapel services at 2PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Allred officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Welcome Baptist Church, 5188 Terry Hgts. Rd., Pinson AL 35126 or Center Point First United Methodist Church, 2129 Ct. Pt. Rd.
