William Virgil Dillard passed away quietly at his home on August 11, 2021, at the age of 91. He was born November 29, 1929 in Tuscaloosa County AL to James Virgil Dillard and Brazzie Price Dillard. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Joyce Hale Dillard, his parents, and his brother James Price Dillard. After attending the University of Alabama he served in the United States Army in the Korean War, returning to live, work and marry in Birmingham. After obtaining his law degree he worked as a well-respected title attorney, not retiring until age 80.
William had a great love of history and music, playing his beloved trombone well into his eighties. But his greatest love was his family, their interests, accomplishments and happiness. He will be forever remembered and loved for his giving heart, sense of humor and his never-ending stories.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Deal Dillard, children William Hale Dillard (Ann), and Llanell Dillard, grandchildren William Hale Dillard Jr and Melissa Meaghan Dillard.
In lieu of flowers consider a small donation to an animal or music charity of your choosing in his memory.
