William D. Dean Sr., age 66, of Clay, AL is now walking streets of gold after his courageous battle with cancer ended on February 20th, 2021. He was in his home and surrounded by loved ones who want everyone to know that William’s love of life did not come to an end with his death, and that they (his family) will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. William was born in Trafford, AL. He proudly served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War, as a Radioman where his life long love of electronics began. William was also an avid golfer, and according to his version of events - he always ended up several strokes under par! William never met a stranger and always had a joke ready to tell. Whether you knew him as Honey Bunny, Dad, Paw Paw, Brother, Billy, Bill, S.O.B. (Sweet Ole’ Bill), Chef Bill-Wee, Boss, or Crane Man, you knew that he would do anything, for anyone, at anytime. He was just that kind of guy. During the last year, William has shown immense courage and unwavering faith in the face of this cruel and vicious disease. Despite the pain, William stayed strong and kept us all laughing until the end. William is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Teresa D. Dean. He was a proud dad to four daughters and one son, Christy Duncan (Megan), Courtney Hallowell (Robert), Chasity McNeill, Sommer Dean, and David Dean, Jr. (Melissa). He was an amazing Paw Paw to Chase, Collin, Kaleigh, Mason, and Will. He was also survived by his three brothers, one sister and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Verna Dean, as well as his grandson, Chase McNeill. While William will be dearly missed by all who knew him, he would want everyone to know that he was prepared and eager to meet his Lord and Savior. Visitation will be held Friday Feb. 26 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home from 5pm-7pm. Chapel Service will be Saturday Feb. 27 at 2pm. Graveside to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make a donation to the Phalti Baptist Church at PO Box 72 Pachuta, MS 39347 or an in memoriam donation to the charitable organization of your choosing.
