Willa Faye Bice

August 27, 1938 — November 23, 2024

Willa “Faye” Bice, beloved Mother, Granny, MawMaw, great grandmother and friend, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024. She was born and raised in Winston County Alabama. She graduated from Meek High School in 1956. It was during her time in high school she met her first husband, Charles Williams. They were happily married and had three daughters, Alice, Rhonda and Renae. Charles and Faye were married nine years before his death due to heart failure. After Charles passing Faye and the girls moved to Birmingham where Faye worked at the State Department of Education. As a single mother Faye worked tirelessly to provide for her girls. She was dedicated, passionate and determined.

Later through mutual friends she was introduced to Alvin Bice. He was the 2nd chance at Love and the missing piece to make their family complete. Alvin had two children Lynn and Gary.

Faye and Alvin wed on February 13th 1970. Joining their two families to one, Alvin and Faye created a life together that many can only dream of.

Their family grew far beyond the five children resulting in 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Faye retired from the state Department of Education after many years of service. Upon retiring Faye became a fulltime Granny and Mawmaw. She was a dear friend to all. Faye enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. She was best known for her muscadine jelly. All the grandchildren preferred Mawmaws jelly best. Faye also loved quilting. She was a gifted quilter and a State Fair award receipent as well as 4H Club award receipent in high school. She loved to make quilts for her grandchildren.

Faye was an active member of Reeves Grove Baptist Church. She attended every service and always had a smile on her face. Faye loved reading the Bible and hearing gospel music. Even in her final days, Faye would have her daily devotion Bible reading and find peace with gospel hymns.

Faye will be missed greatly but her memories will last forever. The impact she made on others whether teaching them to cook or sew or lead them to Jesus with her biblical wisdom will never be forgotten.

Faye is proceeded in death by her parents, brothers and husbands, Charles Williams and Alvin Bice, as well as her youngest daughter, Renae Etheredge.

Faye is survived by her children, Lynn Kirk (Lawrence), Gary Bice (Susan), Alice Spitzley (Jim) and Rhonda Humphries (Michael) and 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Faye's dedication to her family and Love will live on through us as well.
