Wanda Sue Tipton Black, 83, of Trussville went Home to be with her Savior on Sunday morning, May 27, 2012 after a long battle with hemochromotosis. She was born April 17, 1929 in Arab, AL to J.C. and Lora P. (Norris) Tipton. Sue and Holland Harvel Black were married for 29 years until his death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, B.P. Tipton; two sisters and their husbands, Imogene and Jack Busch and Geraldine and Roger Oliver; brothers-in-law, J.D. Reyer and Bill Smith; and a nephew, Mike Oliver. Sue is survived by her sisters, Marjorie (Jay) Bailey of Trussville, Phyllis Smith of Wetumpka, and Barbara Ann Reyer of Priceville, along with several nieces and nephews. Sue retired from Colonial Bank as an auditor and spent some of her retirement working at Food Giant in Roebuck. She was very active in her church until her illness prevented that two years ago. Her passion was reading and studying God's Word. The funeral will be held in the chapel at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville on Tuesday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing for family and friends immediately preceding the service from 1 until 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Liver Foundation, 617 Lorna Square, Birmingham, AL 35216 in Mrs. Black's memory to further the study of hemochromotosis.
