Walter K. Benson, age 83, of Sylacauga, AL, passed away on November 1, 2011. He was retired from the US Air Force after serving his country in WWII as well as the Korean War. He was a long time active member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Sylacauga where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. More recently, he attended Valley View Church of God in Sylacauga. Mr. Benson retired from the US Postal Service in 1986 after 20 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Fay Benson; daughters, Dava Craft (Danny), Donna Malone, and Dana Culberson (Steve); grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Kristin, Tony, Josh, Sami, & B.J.; great grandchildren, Nicole, Brittany, Mia & Casey; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive Mr. Benson. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 - 7PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4 at 11:00AM in the chapel with burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Association of Alabama - parkinsonsofalabama.org/donate. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
