Vinnie Claude Hartley (Papa) passed away on July 28th, 2021, at 92 years old in Trussville, AL. He is greatly missed already.
Papa was born December 30th, 1928, in Blount County, Alabama to Vasser and Lillie Hartley and was the fourth oldest of six brothers and sisters: Irene Bynum, William Hartley, Inez Hartley, Clarence Hartley, and Felix Hartley. During his career he served in the United States Air Force and worked in computer programming for more than 45 years.
As a member of First Baptist Church of Hoover he served as Chairman of Deacons and Music Minister, among other offices. Those who knew him would describe him as a devout Christian, adoring husband, and loving father and grandfather. He read the Bible every day, sang happy birthday to his children and grandchildren every year, loved breakfast food, and was the biggest Alabama fan. Papa was a man of God and a man of his word.
