Verda S. Meadows, age 93, of Center Point, AL passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014. She was born in Carthage, MO. She served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII; she enlisted in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. She retired from Erwin High School after serving as a teacher for over 20 years. Verda was a long-time member of Hilldale Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was an avid reader, but mostly enjoyed studying her bible. She enjoyed sewing and traveling. Verda was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer O. Meadows. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Anne Meadows; son, Dean E. Meadows (Joyce); grandchildren: Rachel Dorsey (Matt), Miranda Redfearn (Nathan), and Robert Smith (Danielle); six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 31st at Jefferson Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Garden East. Dr. Ron Pate of Hilldale Baptist Church is officiating.
