Valerie Jacobs

Valerie Martin Jacobs, age 87 of Trussville, passed away on April 17, 2022. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Birmingham and a graduate of Phillips High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Jacobs; parents, Ernest Martin and Grace Woody Martin; brothers, Herman Martin, Millard Martin, and Wayne Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Jacobs of Decatur, AL, and Jan Love (Blair) of Trussville, AL; Grandchildren, Angie Parker (Eric) of Madison, AL, Ryan O'Rear (Amanda) of Brentwood, TN, Matthew Love and Katie Love, both of Birmingham; Great-grandchildren, Molly Parker, Jake Parker, Eli Parker, Ella O'Rear and Christian O'Rear; brother, John Martin (Deb) of Monticello, GA. Valerie retired in 2000 with 40 years of service at SouthTrust Bank. She was an Assistant Vice President and Manager of the Commercial Loan Department. Valerie enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She loved searching the coast for lighthouses, the Smokey Mountains, and especially the beach. Visitation will be Friday, April 22 from 9 am until 10 am at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville, AL, with a graveside service beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in Valerie's name.
