Travis, Vada Louise, 90, a former resident of Kimberly and Birmingham went home to be with The Lord on June 3, 2013. She was born in 1922, lived through the depression and WW II, worked in the shipyards as a clerk and as a parachute inspector during the war. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was a long time member of the Floradora Garden Club and a Master Gardener. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Wilson H. Travis. Mrs. Travis is survived by W. Gerald Travis, son, of Birmingham and his wife Michaele B. Travis; Sharon Stricklin, daughter, of Morris and husband Lonnie Stricklin; and CW5 Tom Travis, son, of Sanford, NC and wife Jennifer McGough Travis. Grandchildren: Leigh Travis, Jonathan Travis and wife Dana, Joy Travis, Jennifer Willoughby and husband, Matt, David Stricklin and wife Shelly, Sarah Travis, Rebekah Travis and Joshua Travis. Great-Grand Children: Hope Travis, Jackson, Milton Ryder and Taje Elise Travis, Kylie and Christopher Stricklin, Sam, Mason and Connor Willoughby. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Visitation with family will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Enon Baptist Church Music Program, Morris, AL. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
