Vachel Lee Keeble, Jr., 81, of Birmingham, AL, went to be with the Lord on October 14, 2016. Vachel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clara Horton Keeble; his two children, Vachel Lee (Robin) Keeble, III, and Alice (Jimmy) Keeble Freeman; his sister, Mary Ruth (John) Keeble Rudd and his brother, Benian Sharman (Christine) Keeble; six grandchildren, Heather (Ben) Johnson, Sandy (Wendell) Phillips, Treyce (Max) Peeples, Vachel Lee Keeble, IV, Jay Freeman and Clay Freeman; his great grandchildren, Jacob Johnson, Carter Johnson, Walker Johnson and Elizabeth Lee Phillips. Vachel was preceded in death by his parents, Vachel Lee Keeble, Sr. and Myrtie Ruth Keeble. Vachel was a member of Center Point Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He served in the US Army Reserve as a member of the IV US Army Corps Control Group in Birmingham, AL for 6 years. He was a graduate of Wetumpka High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Economics from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute in Auburn, AL. He was a member of the Toastmasters Club in Birmingham, AL. He was a retired claims adjuster from Shelby Vesta Insurance Co. He coached the girls softball teams at South Roebuck Park for 13 years and served as the Huffman High Band Booster President from 1981-1984. He will be missed by all the people whose lives he touched. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville on Sunday, October 16 from 5-7pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, at 12pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Vachel's memory to Center Point Primitive Baptist Church c/o Elder Roy Coker; 151 Woodbury Drive, Sterrett, AL 35147.
