She attended Woodlawn High School and graduated from Auburn University in 1950. She was a home economics teacher with Birmingham City Schools for 30 years. She was the first one to lend a hand when others were in need by her kind words, visits, sending of cards, baking pound cakes, and making phone calls. Her greatest joy was her family- seeing them happy, healthy, and becoming the best they could be. Following a private graveside service, the family will receive friends at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Wednesday, Oct. 5th from 3:30 - 5 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research. 1-800-708-7644.
