Wayne Riggins, age 69, of Trussville, AL was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday Morning June 1, 2014, after a hard fought battle against lung cancer. He was a long time member and served as head usher for First Baptist Church of Trussville for over 40 years. Wayne graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School in 1963 and married his high school sweetheart, Sheila Mulinix Riggins, with whom he just shared his anniversary of 51 years. He and his brothers own and operate the family business, WB Riggins Tallow Company, Inc. He served as a member of Birmingham Elks Lodge #79. He has been an incredible husband, father, grandfather and child of Christ with his love, time, and devotion. It is most difficult to summarize his life through a few words, but his life was an ongoing example of selfless acts of service that exemplified the love of Christ in the everyday little things. That legacy will continue until we meet again. Upon his death, he left us with the biggest smile as he must have surely seen the face of our sweet Jesus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Geneva Riggins. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sheila Mulinix Riggins; two children, Seth (Amy) Riggins, and Resha Riggins; grandchildren Anna Riggins, Sydney Riggins, Meagan Riggins, Chapman Riggins, Sara Riggins, and Mackenzie Riggins; Brothers, Wally Riggins, Philip (Bambi) Riggins, and Don (Lee Anne) Riggins, and loving nieces and nephews, extended family and longtime friends. Visitation will be Friday, June 6, 2014, from 11 AM until service time at 1 PM at First Baptist Church of Trussville. Graveside will follow at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. In lieu of flowers, the family would love to continue Papa's support of Children's Harbor, Lake Martin Campus, 1 Our Children's Highway, Alexander City, AL 35010.
