Thomas Parks

Thomas Allen Parks, age 79, passed away at home on Thursday, August 18, 2016. He was born April 14, 1937 in Birmingham, AL. He was a member of North Shelby Baptist Church and a Shriner with the Zamora Temple. Allen spent most of his working life in construction, starting several companies over the years, including Acoustics & Interiors of Birmingham and Aapco Contracting, Inc. Allen was a very kind and generous person, always willing to help others. He was a hard working individual who was a great role model for his family.

Allen enjoyed being with friends and family. He always had a project going to benefit family and friends to bring them together. He would have to hang some type of Alabama football sign on each project, regardless of the fact that one of his sons was in the enemy Auburn camp.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Edward C. and Earline L. Parks, four sisters, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Lee Parks; his sister Sue Holmes; sons Kim Heaton (Sharon), Kerry Heaton (Gina), and Kyle Parks (Sonora); grandchildren Valyrie, Kristy (Michael), Jessica, Blair, Blakely, and Kory; and great-grandchildren Celeste and Ava.

The family would like to express a special note of thanks to his caregiver and the newest part of our family, Virginia Fair. Her dedication and care allowed him to enjoy being at home with his family and we cannot thank her enough.

Services will be at 12:00pm on Tuesday August 23, 2016 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral home, with visitation beginning at 11:00am.
