Thomas Hix, Jr.

Thomas Huey "Tom" Hix, Jr., age 76, passed away on August 22, 2024. Mr. Hix was born and raised in Talladega. Tom was a graduate from the University of Alabama with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He was an avid Alabama football fan. In addition, Mr. Hix loved all types of music from classical to rock. Tom always had an uncanny ability to recall facts and historical events. He had a wealth of knowledge on many subjects which he humbly shared when asked.

Tom was a Christian and loved his Lord. He was a member of Taylor Memorial Methodist Church since 1997 and was devoted to his church family.

Before Losing his sight, Tom worked in sales at K-mart where he met his wife Donna as well as at Southern Wholesale Glass. After losing his sight he was fortunate to be a stay at home Dad to his daughter Kate.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Huey Hix Sr. and Willie Jean Hix, several aunts and uncles, including his uncle Hubert whom he was particularly close to.

Mr. Hix is survived by his wife Donna Hix of 47 years, daughter Kate (Scott) Elling, and one grandson Aiden Elling. He is also by several other loving cousins and the Kimbrough family.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm at Taylor Memorial Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the church with Rev. Keith Beatty officiating. Burial will be at Taylor Memorial Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William O'Stean, Justin Gill, Jay Thomas, Derrick Barksdale, Micah Junior, Robert Kimbrough, Sonny Minton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rusty Morgan, Randy Hall, Larry Dennis, Ron Murphy.
