Theresa Tina Sanders entered eternal rest on November 3, 2012, in Crescent City, California. She was born on November 20, 1927 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, the 15th child of Salvatore and Josephine Burgio from Sicily. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, James Thomas Sanders, of Smith River, California. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Carrie E. Thornton; survived by her beloved son, Richard G. Lukasik, of Pomona, California; beloved daughter, Brenda J. Luthie, of Smith River, California; four treasured grandchildren, Stephanie M. Bevan, James E. Thornton, David L. Thornton, and Richard G. Lukasik, Jr.; also three adored great-grandchildren, Alyssa J. Talbert, Cade J. Talbert, and Abigail R. Thornton. In her early years, she worked as a riveter at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham, Alabama. She waitressed occasionally. But mostly she was a very loving housewife and mother. She enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and cooking/baking. She was famous for her delicious homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs, coconut cream pie, and banana pudding. She was a member of Eastern Star in Trussville, Alabama. She will be laid to rest in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, November 9th. Visitation is from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at 1:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warmth, kindness and love.
