SMALLWOOD, JUDGE TENNANT MORTON, JR., of Birmingham, AL, passed away on April 30th 2011. Graveside Services were held on May 2. Judge Smallwood served as a Circuit Judge in Jefferson County. With 44 years of service, he was one of Alabama's most distinguished and longest serving Judges. He was 2 times president of the Ala. Judges Association. In the 1970's he was named one of the top 8 Judges in America. Judge Smallwood proudly served in the U.S. Army (Reserves) in the Judge Advocate General Corp attaining the rank of Colonel. Judge Smallwood was a graduate of Samford University. Judge Smallwood was known for his many charitable contributions and work. Judge Smallwood was also a minister and served in numerous churches. He was a member of South Roebuck Baptist Church. He was an author of three books and recently began working on a fourth book. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Callaway Smallwood, of Birmingham; Daughter, Sunny Smallwood of Birmingham; Sons: Alan Smallwood of Gadsden, J.T. Smallwood of Clay, David Smallwood of Trussville, "Honorary Son" John Delucia of Trussville. Granddaughter: Carrie Ann Smallwood of Birmingham. Sisters: Faye Arrowood of Marietta, Ga., Martha(Mickey) Wilbur of Marietta, Ga. Brother: Gene Smallwood(Shirley) of Orlando, Fl. Aunt: Arlys Allen of Evans, Ga. Thousands of friends. He especially enjoyed the music of his granddaughter Carrie Ann, who is an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, and banjoist.
