Sylvia Stokes Jett age 79 of Chelsea, AL passed away to be with our Lord on Wednesday June 11, 2014.
She was born on February 2, 1935 in Birmingham, AL by her proud parents Eula (Brooks) and Glady Raymond Stokes. She grew up in Birmingham, AL went to school at Ensley High School and met the love of her life Thomas M Jett. They were married on November 13, 1954 during shore leave since Tom was serving in the Navy during the Korean War. After the war, she worked as a full time home maker and they raised three wonderful children, Darlene, Kim and Tim. She could draw like an artist and instilled a positive attitude, desire to read and learn to her children and grandchildren. Her love for the Lord shone like a bright light for all of us. She taught Sunday school for many years at Centercrest Baptist Church, in Center Point, AL. In her later years, she attended Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea, AL. Sylvia is survived by three children and their spouses: Darlene and Mike Widick; Kimberly and Kenneth Perry; and Timothy and Sandra Jett. Sylvia is survived by ten grandchildren: Sheree' Widick, Shana Widick Rose, Shelley Widick Patterson, Shae Widick, Michael Widick Jr, Christopher Perry, Kaylee Perry, Cassi Jett LaRa, Megan Jett Martin, and Emily Jett. Sylvia is survived by eleven great-grandchildren: Alex, Brooks, Asher, Maddy, Jayden, Jessie, Hudson, Harrison, Easton, Oliver, and Hollyn. Sylvia is survived by a sister and her husband: Edna Stokes Jett and Charles Jett. Sylvia has been preceded to heaven by her loving husband Thomas M Jett and many pets including Shaggy Do. She lived for her family and as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always served the Lord and is today dancing with Tom in God's own crystal city on high. Four words that sum up her life are Loving Devoted Christian and Family. Services will be on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10am at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
