THOMAS, SUDIE RUTH ARMSTRONG passed away peacefully at her home in Pinson on January 3, 2012 at the age of 81. A devoted and loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lon L. Thomas; four children, Pamela Rachal (Kenny), Becke Stripling (Dale), Vycki Hinely and Lonnie Thomas; four grandchildren, Johnny Hinely (Jillian), Beau Hinely (Kasey), Heath Stripling, Heather Stripling; five great-grandchildren, Tucker, Mary Raines, Jacob, Brooks, and Tristan; other nieces, nephews and relatives. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lacy Chamness Holcomb, father, Arthur Armstrong, sister, Farris Bazzano; and two brothers, Bill Armstrong and Tracy McGill. She was born in Henderson, Texas, on December 18, 1930, moved to Birmingham while a teenager and attended Phillips High School. Beyond caring for her family, she will be remembered greatly by her faithful, dedicated service to the Lord. She has been a member of the Church of Christ for all her adult life and a member of Roebuck Parkway Church of Christ for the past twenty years. She led many souls to the Lord and set a shining example to her friends and family. She enjoyed an active and healthy physical lifestyle as well, taking daily walks and gardening in her yard, bird-watching and being outdoors. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Roebuck Parkway Church of Christ. Funeral services will be Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Tim Shoemaker officiating at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
