Shirley Thacker

Shirley K. Thacker, age 81 of Tarrant, AL passed away December 3, 2016. She was retired from Eastern Urology Associates where she served as the office manager. She was a lifelong member of Rock United Methodist Church where she served faithfully in many roles such as a Sunday school teacher, choir director, pianist, director of youth musical programs and was active with the United Methodist Women. She is known and loved by many as her greatest love in life was being a servant to God, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Wilton Thacker; parents Jay (Jake) and Ruby (Mee-Maw) Kite; brothers, Doug Kite and Ronnie Kite. She is survived by her daughter Teresa McElroy (Sam); son, Tim Thacker (Kim); grandchildren, Anthony McElroy (Missy), Garrett McElroy (Leah), Alex Thacker, Elizabeth Weekley (Adam), Andrew Thacker; great grandchildren Lacey McElroy, Brody McElroy, Carson McElroy, Benjamin McElroy; godchildren Traci Ross, Kristi Barber and Brent Williamson. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 3:30 PM. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM to 3:15 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Gardens East. Rev. Sam McElroy will be officiating over the services. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
