Shirley Letchman

Dr. Shirley Sanders Letchman, 81, of Springville, AL passed away on September 18, 2018. She was born in Hamilton, AL to Arlie and Mattie Sanders. Shirley was Valedictorian of Winfield High School in 1955. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1959 and then graduated from the University of Alabama Medical School in 1963. Shirley formerly attended Huffman Baptist Church. She was employed at Lloyd Noland Hospital for several years and later began working at St. Vincent's Birmingham before retiring in 1989. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Doug Sanders and Barbara Duchock. She is survived by her loving husband, of 53 years, Charles H. Letchman; her daughter, Cynthia Letchman and her partner, Cindy Hooks; her son Charles H. Letchman, II and his wife Sissy and their five children, Cole, Savannah, Taylor, Charleigh and Olivia. She also leaves behind her two brothers, Keith Sanders and Roger Sanders and his wife, Linda. A funeral service for Shirley will be held at 12 noon at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville on Saturday, September 22nd. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. The burial will take place at Jefferson Memorial's adjoining gardens. Dr. John B. Hoffmann will preside over the service.
