Shirley Kirby

Shirley Faye Kirby born May 28, 1938 died on April 12, 2018 after her battle with Dementia. She was preceded in death by her parents Lola and Francis East, two brothers Bobby and Leon East, her sister Ellen Bennett and her husband of 45 years Thomas B. Kirby. She is survived by her Brother Buddy East, one sister Linda Hayes and her four daughters Donna Jean Jones (David), Pamela Pilgreen (Randy), Tammy Connolly and Denise Dean (Mike). She was blessed to have 10 grandchildren: Stephanie Hodge, Beth Hankins (Danny), Barry Jones (Nikki), Brittany Pilgreen, Erica Pilgreen, Zachary Pilgreen, Michael Connolly, Faith Connolly, Lauren Faulkner (Alex) and Stephen Dean. She was happily blessed to have 5 great-granddaughters: Miya King, Kate Hankins, Julia Hankins, Ruby Hankins and Jolene Jones. Mrs. Kirby leaves behind two kind friends Gladys Avery and Sue Pilgreen. Mrs. Kirby was loved by many friends and family members. Mrs.Kirby was a member of the East Birmingham Freewill Baptist Church and Huffman Freewill Baptist Church Church for most of her adult life when she lived in Birmingham, AL. After the death of her husband she moved to Oneonta, AL where she lived for 14 years and was a member of the Union Hills Baptist Church where she worked with the babies and toddlers.
Their will be a visitation on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville, AL. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm where Brother Bill Barnett will do the service with burial in the military section where she will be buried next to her sweet husband Tommy Kirby. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the Union Hills Baptist Church in Oneonta, AL. 2919 County Highway 39 Oneonta, AL 35121 for the children's ministry.
