Shirley Giles

Shirley (Sheila) Loraine Giles, age 93, passed away on March 26, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Giles; her son Larry Giles and son-in-law Philip Royal. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Birmingham Ward. Shirley was born in Glenmora, Louisiana and later moved to Meridian, Mississippi where she spent much of her life. At age 43 she became a Registered Nurse and began teaching and working at the Maddy Hearsey School of Nursing and Hospital where she also trained. Shirley worked as a nurse for over 30 years and retired in 1997. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Royal Joyner (Randall); daughter-in-law Cindy Giles; grandchildren Rhonda Wright (Jay), LeClaire Lawhon (Heath), and Philip Royal (Carol); six great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. Two sisters Sue LaVoie and Marie Rougeau and one brother Harold Pittman; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and family. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 30 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at 2:00 pm at Meehan Cemetery in Meehan, Mississippi. Jefferson Memorial in Trussville will be directing.
