Sharon Pierce

Sharon Murphree Chapple Pierce, mother, humanitarian, and animal lover, of Birmingham, passed away September 24, 2010. She was a member of Church of the Highlands. Sharon received her Master's Degree from UAB; was a teacher at Berney Points Baptist School and Banks School. But her true calling in life was charitable service with the Humane Society where she served as the president of the Women's Auxiliary at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. Sharon worked tirelessly for the helpless animals and the poor and homeless. She was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Dorothy Murphree, brother Jerome Murphree, and husband Larry Pierce Sr. Services will be Saturday October 2, at 2pm at Jefferson Memorial Chapel with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm Friday at Jefferson Memorial Trussville. A reception will be held at Greater Birmingham Humane Society from 5pm until 7pm Saturday after the funeral. She is survived by the pride and joy of her life her son Brent Chapple, brothers Ronnie (Joy) Murphree, Michael (Linda) Murphree, nieces Michelle, Austin, Matt, Mary Beth, Elizabeth Ann, stepson Larry Pierce Jr. and Brent's four legged brother Elvis.
