Jason Stegall "Stegall" went home to be with the Lord on December 14,
2009. He was the most amazing husband, father, brother, son, Soldier
and friend. He touched so many lives during his time here with us.
Jason was born in Birmingham on October 3, 1978. He attended
Hewitt-Trussville High School and later went on to fulfill his dream of
being a Soldier. During his five year military career, he was stationed
at Ft. Richardson, Alaska with the 501st "GERONIMO" as a paratrooper
which he loved dearly. He was deployed with this unit for 15 months
during Operation Iraqi Freedom where he earned a Bronze Star with "V"
device for Valor and a Purple Heart. Other awards and decorations he was
awarded are Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, two
Army Achievement Medals and the prestigious Combat Infantry Badge. He
also has a second Purple Heart pending approval for his actions while in
Iraq. He was then transferred to the 36th Infantry division in Ft.
Bliss, Texas in July 2008. He was preceded in death by his grandfather,
James Stegall, Sr. and grandmother, Jerry Austin. He will be dearly
missed by his wife of 4 years, Ashley Stegall, son Landon Stegall, step
sons, Leighton and Logan Dees; father, James Stegall Jr.; mother, Tina
Stegall; brother, Josh Stegall; "Me Maw" Dorothy Scott; great
grandmother, Julie Stegall and an abundance of family, friends and
fellow soldiers. Visitation will be held at Crosspoint Baptist Church
on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral services
will be at Crosspoint Baptist Church on Monday, December 21, 2009 at
1:00 PM with Military Graveside Services to follow at Jefferson Memorial
Gardens East in Trussville, Alabama. Jefferson Memorial Trussville
directing.
